Jen’s forte is facilitating Employee Health and Wellness workshops, typically delivered at lunch time as ‘lunch’n learns’ or power lunches. These workshops include education not only on what to do, but how to implement better nutrition and life choices, and they serve as a first step toward making greater improvements in workplace health, like upgrading vending machine and snack/beverage options.
These workshops are a fun and informative forum for the discussion of healthy living. Jen always uses a show-tell-taste approach that supports active participation and encourages participants to engage in discussion, interact with other attendees, and get their questions answered.
Most approaches to healthy eating dwell on calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Instead of creating lists of restrictions and good and bad foods, I coach my clients to explore basic improvements and implement gradual changes during our work together. As these pieces accumulate, my clients find the changes collectively create a much larger impact than they originally expected. We work on what you want to improve, and within the circumstances of your unique situation.
"No one diet works for everyone"
It’s rare for anyone to get an hour to explore their wellness goals with a trained professional. As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I create a supportive environment that enables you to articulate and achieve your goals. Throughout my education, I have been exposed to the most cutting-edge dietary theories and studied highly effective coaching techniques to help you find the right lifestyle that works best for you.
After earning s Chemical Engineering degree with an emphasis in Biotechnology at the University of California at Berkeley, I began my career in Environmental Consulting and went on to work as a Management Consultant, focusing on industries such as Investment Banking, Aerospace and Defense, Food & Beverage, and Healthcare.
In addition to on-the-job training and experience as a yoga instructor and triathlete, I received formal training to practice Health Counseling at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, affiliated with Columbia University. IIN is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories—combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts like the USDA food pyramid, the glycemic index, the Zone and raw foods. I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories; everything from Ayurveda, gluten-free, and Paleo, to raw, vegan, and macrobiotics, and everything in between.
